Beckfoot Trust is an organisation that links a group of local Bradford schools together so that they can collectively improve the life chances for young people within their schools. Our aim is to create a group of truly remarkable schools each with a genuine comprehensive intake. They will be wonderful places for young people to learn and grow up in. We want to make a difference. We want to create something special.

CEO Message: Update and Thanks

David HornI would like to thank you for your amazing support this year and to update you on developments across the Trust.  It has obviously been a year like no other and has tested us all. I hope that you feel we have done all we can to support you during this time, whether it be with keeping our schools open constantly throughout the pandemic or with the remote learning materials we have provided for our pupils to do at home.

As you know the Government has made clear the intention for all schools to fully open from the beginning of the new academic year. We are in the process of revising risk assessments within each of our schools to ensure we comply with the health and safety guidance issued by Government. School headteachers will be in touch with you before the end of term to let you know opening arrangements. Secondary headteachers will also let you know what the arrangements will be this summer for exam results days, next steps to Sixth Form and post Sixth Form destinations. We will obviously have to do this differently this year to ensure we keep people safe.

During the pandemic we have had to deploy new approaches to working with pupils and their families. For example, we have used technology far more effectively since the lockdown to keep in contact with you and involve you more in supporting your child’s learning. We will continue use these developments when we return to more normal ways of working.

Our schools will fully close over the summer break. The Trust will meet mid-August and again just before schools intend to open, to review the plans. Should there be any change in the strategy, we will notify you immediately.

Let us hope that we see a continued downward trend in outbreaks of Covid over the summer and are able to get back to some form of normality in September. We are desperately keen to see our schools fully open again.

We know the pandemic has affected many of our own community in very personal ways. If we can support you in anyway please let us know.

Once again, a sincere thank you for your amazing support during this period.

I wish you and your families a good summer.

Your sincerely,

David Horn
