Welcome to Beckfoot Phoenix
Primary Special School
Welcome to our website. We hope you will see that in our very special School, our pupils come first!
Beckfoot Phoenix is a school for children aged 2 to 11 with severe learning difficulties and profound and complex learning and medical needs.
We are proud to be part of the Beckfoot Trust - a family of 10 schools who all work together to create remarkable environments for children in Bradford and Keighley areas with the aim that no child is left behind.
Our school is sited with Merlin Top Primary School up Braithwaite Avenue in Keighley in a purpose built building that has lots of space and great facilities including a rebound room, soft play area and hydrotherapy pool.
At Beckfoot Phoenix school, it is all about the children!
- Keeping them safe.
- Valuing them and giving them a voice.
- Enabling them all to Enjoy, Learn and Succeed.
All of our children are different, and so our curriculum is personalised to meet their individual need. We want children to leave our school with skills that will help them with their life. For some, this means learning to read and write, for others, it may be learning to be more independent, and for some, it may be about them being able to accept help or support so that they can happily access the world.
By working in partnership with families, we are confident that Beckfoot Phoenix is a place where families feel supported, where children are accepted and where the progress made by pupils prepares them well for the next phase of their life.
Thank you for visiting our website.

We are humbled by the efforts of Captain Tom who is walking 100 laps of his garden to raise money for the NHS and to coincide with his 100th birthday.
Tom was born and brought up in Keighley, Yorkshire. He went to Keighley Grammar School, now Beckfoot Oakbank School and later completed an apprenticeship as a Civil Engineer. Tom went on to being enlisted in 8 DWR (145 RAC) at the beginning of the war, and in 1940 was selected for Officer training. He was later posted to 9DWR in India, and served and fought on the Arakan, went to Regiment to Sumatra after the Japanese surrender and returned to be an Instructor at Armoured Fighting Vehicle School in Bovington.
You can watch Tom complete his final 10 laps here.
We are proud to be supporting Captain Tom and the NHS with money raised by our school community. £1568 has been donated, £1 for each student at Beckfoot Oakbank School.

Captain Tom, you are an inspiration and all at Beckfoot Trust wish you a very happy 100th birthday.
