Stay & Play Holiday Scheme
"Stay & Play"
Holiday play scheme for disabled children and their families
Beckfoot Phoenix School Stay & Play is a play scheme that runs for 2 days of each week in the holidays (excluding Christmas) at Beckfoot Phoenix Special School.
It is run by Jason Patefield from Beckfoot Phoenix Special school with help from volunteers from Friends of Phoenix (FOPSS).
It is open to all families of the school as well as other families who have disabled children.
Stay and Play sessions are a place where you can come with your child and other children, meet other families and enjoy the exciting activities on offer.
Each session offers a range of activities including singing, cooking, swimming, soft play, animal visits, massage, bouncy castle. Families play together in informal and friendly play sessions.
At Beckfoot Phoenix Stay and Play sessions, we provide:
Supported Places funded by Beckfoot Phoenix School - providing short breaks for children with disabilities in a safe and stimulating environment where disabilities and behaviours are accepted and supported by Beckfoot Phoenix trained staff. These places are available to families in receipt of pupil premium and are allocated on a 'need' basis.
Sibling Support - the scheme enables siblings to play together, learn, inspire each other and grow with support from others in the same situation.
Parental Support - parenting a child with disabilities can be a lonely place. Stay and Play sessions help with loneliness, isolation and support parents to join their child in play activities.
For more information, contact Jason Patefield in school.
"Stay & Play" sessions are also a great place for brothers and sisters of children with special needs to meet new people and perhaps make some new friends.
With the huge success in the service that we provide, our holiday play scheme is widely known across the local authority and is recommended by social workers and other professionals.
The sessions usually run Monday and Wednesday during the school holidays, unless a Monday falls on a bank holiday then we run Tuesday and Thursday, we are closed at Christmas.
Our current entry fee is:
Normal admission £5.00 for the first child, then £2.00 per child thereafter.
