Beckfoot Trust is an organisation that links a group of local Bradford schools together so that they can collectively improve the life chances for young people within their schools. Our aim is to create a group of truly remarkable schools each with a genuine comprehensive intake. They will be wonderful places for young people to learn and grow up in. We want to make a difference. We want to create something special.

David Horn, Chief Executive Officer and Charlie Tebbutt, Chief Operating Officer, Retirement

The time is almost here, David Horn, CEO and Charlie Tebbutt, COO are on their last few days in our Trust.

It is hard to find the words really to say what this means. For those of us that have worked with them directly you know that that they are towering individuals, immense leaders and good good people. For those of you that haven't, their impact is in every corner of each of our schools. Their contribution is immeasurable. More than the what is the how they have achieved so much. They have soul. Our young people really matter to them and they care about our colleagues and Bradford communities. They are not afraid to challenge, do the hard miles and take risks, they recognise their own weaknesses and always see the strengths in others. They have true humility.

In a message to all colleagues David said, 'I want to thank you all for the fantastic support you have given me during my time as CEO of the Trust and as Headteacher of Beckfoot before that. It has been an immense privilege to work for this organisation. We formed the Trust back in 2012 out of a frustration that Bradford schools working in isolation were failing to learn best ideas and as a result failing the communities they served. Our ambition was to create a partnership of Bradford schools committed to working in partnership with one another and absolutely determined to create better life chances for our children. We have come a long way. It has been so refreshing to see. We have shown the power of collective partnership and we have trusted one another. Our ‘Enjoy Learn Succeed’ values have underpinned everything we have tried to do and I am proud that all of our schools have stayed true to those values both for our children and our staff. I am equally proud of how at our 2019 conferences we collectively wrote our mission document: Creating Remarkable Schools where No Child is Left Behind’.

This is a wonderful organisation, full of truly amazing people, who I know I will miss greatly. There is still a lot to do. Standards have to continue to rise for every group of learners. The early work on creating a more diverse and inclusive organisation needs to take root. The ambitions set out in our mission document need to be realised. Partnership working needs to become even more embedded so that we secure genuine benefit of working at scale.  We have begun that journey and I know it will continue'.

This has not been the last year of work they expected and we have not been able to celebrate David and Charlie in the way we would have hoped given the current restrictions but we did manage a small gathering this week to say some thank yous on behalf of us all.

On behalf of your colleagues, young people, families and friends across Beckfoot Trust, so long Charlie and David. Our gratitude and admiration for your service above self, for the dedication, the laughs, the learning, the relentless positivity and your unceasing belief that, individually and collectively, we can all make a difference every day to Bradford kids.

Good luck on the outside and always remember...enjoy, learn, succeed
