Good Afternoon,

This week we have said goodbye to our Year 6 pupils. We have had a brilliant week with the Prom and all the celebrations.
We wish them all good luck. Good bye to Tegan, Lucas C, Jake, Jason, Adam, Lucas L, Eisa, Kyle, Matthew, Isaac, Olivia, Star, Katie, Christian, Austin, Nathan, Rachel and Bilal. We will miss you all.

Here is the poem that I shared during the Prom.

Primary School is over now with big school coming fast,
I have to tell you this last year has been a blast.
Shortly you'll be moving on to somewhere fresh and new,
This school will be so different when we do not have you.
We've watched you grow and turn into the person that we are,
To read and write and count with ease, you simply are a star!
We want you to remember, a message from us all,
Live your life and chase your dreams, whether big or small.
You are unique and wonderful and sadly, will be missed.
So grab life and forever hold it tightly in your fist.
Goodbye from us and thank you as it has been so much fun,
Remember you are special and you're simply number one!

We also said goodbye to Jenny T and Ben. Jenny is moving to London and Ben is leaving us to do his teacher training. We will miss them both and hope that they are successful in their journey.

Last of all, a huge thank you from me to you for allowing us to be part of your special children's lives for the last year. We are truly honoured to work in a place like Phoenix and your children are the reason that we love our jobs and work tirelessly to make sure they learn lots, make memories and continue to be brilliant.
Thank you for the kind gifts that we have received, they are very much appreciated.
Have a wonderful summer and we will see you on Monday 4th September.

Sarah :)

Good Afternoon,

Thank you to the parents who have come into school to share their children's successes of the year with the class teachers. We have had some amazing feedback and this is a wonderful reminder of why we have the best job in the world!

As we come to the end of the term there are still plenty of exciting things happening in school. Next week we are having our Prom for the leavers. Plans are coming together and we are looking forward to this on Wednesday with the children and their families. We hope everyone whose child is leaving can make this fabulous event.

School closes on Friday 21st July for the summer break.

Have a great weekend,

Good Afternoon,

Green base had their cake sale this week to raise money for the Prom. They made a whopping Β£203.29. The cakes were amazing and all tasted delicious. Thank you to all the team and children for their persuasive selling techniques.

You will have discovered that the children have brought their school reports home. These can be discussed at your parents and carers afternoon. You should have received the details from the class teacher about this.

There are further teacher strikes next week happening throughout the country. If this affects your child, you will have received a call from the office to inform you.

Sadly I am letting you know that Jenny Tate, our Purple base lead will be leaving us at the end of the term. She has secured a job at the prestigious special school Swiss Cottage in London. We are very sad to see Jenny go but we wish her lots of luck on her new venture. I think we should take a school trip to go and visit her in the Autumn term!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone,

Sarah :)

Good Afternoon Everyone,

Another very busy week has finished and we have had a challenge day in school with external visitors. They loved what they saw happening within the classrooms and especially loved the interactions they had with our wonderful children!

We have also had our LSC meeting today, this stands for Local School Committee. If you are interested and would like to join this, please let me know. There was a distinct lack of biscuits today but I promise to buy some for the next meeting!

Our class lists for next year are nearly ready so you will be finding out in the next few weeks which class your child will be in from September.
The reports are nearly ready to come home too. I have had a lovely time reading them all and writing a little message for your child.

For this years Year 5 children, you should have received a letter home regarding secondary school places for September 24. There was a typo on the letter from the Local Authority. It should read September 24 not 23. If you have not received this and are unsure, please get in touch with me and I can share the letter with you.

Have a great weekend,

Sarah :)

Good Afternoon,

What a very hot Active ME week in school.
The children have taken part in a range of different activities and have done amazingly week, particularly in the heat.
It was great to see the children working together with their friends from the different bases. We have been having regular drinks and breaks to help with the fatigue from the heat.

As part of Active Me week we have been tracking the steps that the children and adults have taken. They have walked the whole of Yorkshire and another half way around! That's a lot of steps!

There has been lots of water play throughout school and there were many people soaking wet at the end of the day. I was disappointed I couldn't join in but we were too busy partying with the Star's of the week!

Just a reminder that the Summer Fayre will be held in school on Wednesday 5th July.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Sarah :)

Good Afternoon,

We have had a great first week back for the last half term of the school year.

The teachers are working hard to complete the report to parents that will be handed out on the 23rd June.

During our Wednesday morning activities, the children were learning about dinosaurs. Some children made masks, others created amazing stained glass pictures which were highly effective.
In assembly were learnt about dinosaurs and how many teeth they have, Isaac was amazed that they had 60 teeth!

Next week we are holding our Active Me week. There will be a range of activities throughout the week for the children to access. We are really hoping that all the children enjoy the week ahead.

The children have had sun safety lessons this week, I think it was very good timing for the forecast at the weekend!

Have a good weekend.

Sarah :)

Good Afternoon Everyone,

This week we have been learning about Australia during our Wonderful Wednesday. We learnt about the different animals and the lovely places you can visit. Our children made different objects such as hats with corks and made their own Aboriginal art. We learnt lots of interesting facts about the animals that are exclusive to Australia.

We had a special treat in our Star of the Week party because we had the bouncy in the hall. The children loved it, however Thomas refused to come because we didn't have any balloons. Sorry Thomas!!

Today we said goodbye to Imojen as she moves onto pastures new. We wish Imojen lots of luck in her new role and we will miss her.

Have a wonderful half term and we will see you on Monday 5th June.

Good Afternoon,

We started the Star of the Week this half term and it has been absolutely amazing to see the children on a Friday afternoon. We have played, danced and used lots of different equipment to climb, twirl and balance. I hope that your children are proud of their certificates when they come home and have displayed them so everyone can see!

Just a reminder that we break up next Friday for our May Half Term.
See you on Monday and I hope the sun shines for you this weekend.

Good Afternoon,

Another short week has flown and I am happy that we are having 5 days in school next week!

This week we have had M&M productions performing The Jungle Book. The children loved it and I've heard lots of "Bare Necessities" being sung around school.

Today saw the first of our Coffee and Catch up sessions. Thank you to the parents who attended and I hope you found it useful. We hope to see you again next time.

Next week we have some Year 6's going to Beechcliffe for their 2nd transition visit.

Have a wonderful weekend and we will see you all on Monday :)

Good Afternoon,

Thank you to all those who attended the Coronation party on Wednesday. I was upset that I was missing it due to training in another school but the feedback has been great. I loved looking at the pictures that the classes posted of the activities that were taking place in the classes.

Don't forget that we have an extra day at home on Monday due to the coronation. I am praying for sunshine for all the street parties that are taking place.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Just a reminder that school is closed on Monday for Bank Holiday and some classes are closed on Tuesday due to the Teacher Strikes. You will have received notification if your child's class is closed.

We look forward to seeing you next Wednesday for the King's Coronation celebration. The school is already looking ready for the party with bunting and Union Jack flags flying.

Please see the below post for our Stars of the week. We have had a very busy celebration this afternoon. What a lovely end to the week.

Good Afternoon Everyone,

Eid Mubarak to all our friends and families who are celebrating. I wish you a very happy weekend celebrating with your loved ones.

This week we have been learning about Eid and what it means. In assembly we watched a video of the wonderful things that children do to celebrate. We had an Eid parade on Wednesday where there were bright colours all around us and brilliant music to dance to.

This afternoon we have introduced our Star of the Week reward and we had a lovely time with the children playing on the equipment, dancing to music and playing games. It is safe to say that the children that came enjoyed this. Please see the post below for the children who received the certificates. Very well done to them all. I look forward to seeing who is going to be next weeks Star of the Week :)

Have a wonderful weekend,

Sarah

31st March

Good Afternoon,

We have had a very busy week in school. Some of our children performed at St George's Hall on Monday night as part of the Musica Spectacular. As always Irene, Elliot and the team created an amazing show and the children loved it. Thank you to the children for doing their best, the parents for coming along to support and to the staff for their hard work, patience and clever face painting skills :)

We had an Easter bonnet parade on Wednesday and the winners were Heidi, Max, Betsy, Mason, Olivia, Juwayriyah, Samantha, Riley, Jason, Lucas, Umar and Aaleyiah. Well done to everyone who took part.
Watch out on Easter Sunday when there will be a video of the parade for you to watch.

We ended the week by saying goodbye to Harry from Blue Base as he leaves to go to his new school in Brighouse. We will miss him but we wish him lots of luck in his new school which we know he will love. Thank you for the memories Harry.
Also we said goodbye to Sarah Mason who is relocating to a different part of the country. We presented Sarah with a gift and wish her the best of luck in her move.

Now it is time to enjoy the break and for the staff to relax and refresh before we go again on Monday 17th April.
See you all then and enjoy the holiday.
Happy Easter

Sarah :)

Next week we are having a number of different activities as we lead up to our Easter break.
