Our School
Welcome to our website. We hope you will see that in our very special school, our pupils come first!
Beckfoot Phoenix is sited with Merlin Top Primary School up Braithwaite Avenue in Keighley in a purpose built building. Our school has lots of space and great facilities, including specialist outdoor play facilities, a rebound room, soft play area and hydrotherapy pool.
We are proud to be part of the Beckfoot Trust - a family of 10 schools who all work together to create remarkable learning environments for children in Bradford and Keighley areas, with the aim that 'no child is left behind'.
Beckfoot Phoenix is a school for 103 nursery and primary aged children, all of whom have difficulty with their learning. Some of our children have severe learning difficulties and others have profound and complex learning and medical needs. As well as a learning difficulty, children may also have autism, communication difficulties, physical disabilities, and visual or hearing impairments.
At our school, it is all about the children:
- Keeping them safe;
- Valuing them and giving them a voice and;
- Enabling them all to 'Enjoy, Learn and Succeed'.
Within our caring and positive school community, we have a great staff team who work closely with families and specialist agencies such as the school nurse, physiotherapists, diet clinics, paediatricians, CAMHS (child and adolescent mental health service), and speech and language therapist to enable all pupils to achieve beyond what could ever be imagined.
At Beckfoot Phoenix, we see every child as unique. We are proud of our school specific curriculum and personalised approach that ensures that every child leaves our school with the skills that will help them with their life. For some, this means learning to read and write, for others, it is about learning to be more independent, and for others, it is being able to accept help and support so that they can happily access the world around them. For all - it is about 'Learning lots, making memories and being brilliant'.
