Our School Vision
The vision for our school is for everyone in our school to 'Learn lots, Make memories and Be brilliant'
Since our school opened in 2010 as a brand new purpose built school, it has more than doubled in size from under 40 children to nearly 100.
The staff team at that time had come to Phoenix from a number of schools as part of the LA reorganisation of special schools, with the main 2 schools being Braithwaite and Branshaw in the Keighley area.
Since opening, the school has gone from strength to strength with our previous head teacher, Rachel Stirland, who was in post since 2013. Rachel left school in September 2022 and our Deputy Head Sarah Lloyd has now become our Head.
Following our Ofsted inspection in 2016, when the school was described as a 'good school that is rapidly improving', the school wanted to continue its school improvement journey, and so made the conscious decision to join the Beckfoot Trust in September 2017.
Beckfoot Trust is a group of 10 schools that collaborate together to improve the life chances of children in Bradford and Keighley.
It is made up of 2 special schools:
- Beckfoot Phoenix Primary Special School
- Hazelbeck Secondary Special School
4 mainstream primary schools:
- Heaton Primary School
- Allerton Primary School
- Nessfield Primary School
- Priestthorpe Primary School
And 4 mainstream secondary schools:
- Beckfoot Secondary School
- Thornton Secondary School
- Upper Heaton Secondary School
- Oakbank Secondary School
Together, we aim to create 'Remarkable Learning Environments' so that 'No child is left behind'.
